Warren A. Scott, MD

Sports Medicine Specialist located in Monterey Bay, Soquel, CA

Warren A. Scott, MD, knows sports, both as a doctor and as an athlete. At Sports Medicine of Monterey Bay, with locations in both Monterey Bay and Soquel, California, the physician affectionately known as the “Iron Doc” treats a wide variety of issues that develop in physically active people.

With over 30 years of experience, the Iron Doc combines traditional sports medicine therapies, like nutrition management and corticosteroid injections, with innovative techniques like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and extracorporeal shock wave therapy. From tendonitis to sports rehabilitation, Dr. Scott helps patients heal.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, he completed his undergraduate education at Stockton State College in Galloway Township, New Jersey, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology. He then completed medical school at the University of Alabama before serving his residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Since then, Dr. Scott’s worked in emergency medicine and orthopedic surgery,  but his passion remains with sports medicine. In 1999, he founded his private practice, Sports Medicine of Monterey Bay, and has since helped thousands of patients reduce pain and improve athletic performance.

Dr. Scott is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and sits on the science advisory boards for Runner’s World and Triathlete Magazine. He’s also an accomplished writer and has written for the San Jose Mercury News “Health Watch” column. He’s also penned several chapters on emergency and sports medicine for medical textbooks.

An avid runner and biker, Dr. Scott has completed hundreds of races and triathlons, including the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. He’s also passionate about cooking and enjoys spending his evenings exploring his cooking skills. He’s also known for his fondness for attending rock concerts throughout the year.
